I think, that You won't be against if I'll show You my collection of lanterns in this topic
I decided to start showing from one russian model, that loks very similar to polish Mesko ORZ 6 and 7, and compare it with Mesko ORZ-7. It is russian RKU (for mercury lamp) or ZKU (for sodium lamps) 00. I think, that this model is a russian copy of polish Mesko ORZ-6 or 7 because it was produced 1982 - ~1992.

ale za to jak tandetnie ją podrobili odblysnik ma naprawde do bani, zaloże sie ze przez te szpary woda i inne zanieczyszczenia dostawaly sie do komory osprzętu w bardzo dużych ilosciach , na jej tabliczce znamionowej widnieje IP 23 a patrzac na ten odblysnik powinno być max IP 12

By Your request ofcourse I can , but why it is so interesting, You should know better than me how it works In Lithuania until about 1997-2000 also were lots of Mesko ORZ-7 , now not very many, exept in small towns

Now let's go further because I have some free time One more lantern from my collection is also russian - RKU-01. It was also one of the most popular lanterns in LT in abuot 1980 - 1999. There are few variants (made of aliuminium and others of steel, like mine) of this model, but I have this, made in 1982

In most soviet russian fixtures no. Only balast. Thats why for exaple Mesko ORZ-7 works with sodium lamp, but russian fixtures, wich are made for LRF don't work with sodium lamps.

This capacitor is used only to compensate for reactive power, in order to fire a simple sodium lamp is still needed ignitor. high pressure sodium lamps with a mixture of phening fires in every frame of mercury fixture

But I saw many Mesko ORZ-7 with original balasts working with sodium lamps and I tryed it with my ORZ-7 - it works with sodium lamp. In soviet fixtures (without compensating capacitors) sodium lamp fires only sometimes. So in Lithuania if you see old soviet lantern with sodium lamp - it means ballast is replaced. Thats why I decided, that for old mercury lamp balast to fire a sodium lamp helps compensating capacitors.
